![]() ![]() If you have a Vuze, know that there will be more updates that unlock additional capabilities soon.įor more on shooting with the Vuze VR camera, and for a primer on how to share your content, head here. Given how rapidly it’s updating HumanEyes Studio, it’s clear that this isn’t just lip service. For as important as the hardware is, the company has been clear that the software is probably more important. However, HumanEyes is constantly updating its software and firmware. Using the Vuze XR is both 2D and 3D is a cinch, though its a little too easy to depress the stop/go button while holding it. ![]() These are enormous omissions (although you can do some of that work in other software like Adobe Premiere Pro after you edit in HumanEyes Studio). For example, you can’t stitch multiple clips together, and you can’t add titles. MiscellanyĪs we noted in a separate article about using the Vuze VR camera, for as powerful yet easy to use as HumanEyes Studio is, it does lack a few key features. To do so, click Save and then choose a name and location. You may also want to Save the project so you can do more editing later. There’s a progress bar at the bottom of the screen (pic #23) that tells you how things are progressing. When you’re happy with your choices, click Render and wait. (We know, we know, the jokes write themselves…) In the end, though, we were unable to do much to fix my face in this clip with Refine Stitching. You can also remove a given frame or add it back in. It is helpful, though, that the number of the camera(s) that corresponds to the number in the menu is above the preview pane. Thus, the process involves a lot of guessing and trial and error. (And in some case, it may be impossible to do much to fix it.) Even though you can see a preview of your work, and you can adjust all of it with sliders, you don’t see the result of the sliding until you let go of the button. See how my face is chopped in half because of the terrible stitching? This is the kind of thing you’ll obviously want to try to fix in your clips. Obviously, a particularly ugly stitch can destroy a viewer’s immersion as fast and definitively as anything. Dealing with stitching is one of the chief problems facing immersive video makers. There are eight cameras in total on the Vuze, and the parts where they overlap are called stitching lines. These are located, appropriately enough, in the Advanced section. There are some additional features, though, that are more advanced-some of them are still in beta, too-and require a great deal more time and experimentation. The UX is a just a bit clunky at times, but by and large it’s quite intuitive, and the features you need are easy to find-nothing is buried under multiple menu layers. It’s unfortunate because this remains my favorite design due to the LCD live display that also allows one to adjust all setting directly on the camera. It’s hard to overstate just how easy and quick all of the above is. It will need to get updated with better sensors and, an interchangeable battery ! But at this point, this looks all very unlikely. The next problem is that, given the competition that has entered this field, Yi can’t just bring out the same camera they showed in 2018. They have absolutely no new products relating to real photography (not to mention VR or 3D) and their pages on such products are not updated. But the truth is that if you take a look at Yi’s recent productions, they are entirely focused on home security and car security cameras. ![]() We are all trying to be optimistic and hopeful that Yi will finally release the Horizon. My next comment is in regards the Yi Horizon. So, are they certified or not ? I don’t think the EVO is VR180-certified either.Īt any rate, one good reason to use the terminology “3D 180” instead of VR180 is that most people hearing VR180 actually don’t realize that it’s actually 3D and I think every opportunity should be taken to make it plainly clear that this is 3D. Mind you I did notice Vuze mention something about VR180. In fact, I get the impression that most of the companies introducing cameras with a 3D 180 mode are not that interested in submitting to Google’s vision of it. To the best of my knowledge, none of these cameras except for the Mirage are VR180-certified. Next some comments: I noticed that at the 12-minute mark you refer to 3D 180 as “VR180”. Because every side of the Vuze is the same, and it shoots in 360 degrees, there’s no real center per se. My next question is: What is that thing that only the XR does ? Were you referring to the exposure blending ? Have the sample clips not been uploaded yet ? In other words, there is no link in the location where you point and I checked your recent clip posts and none of them are the samples. The first question of course is about those sample clips that you “point to” in the video.
